Day 6 is slow and JUICY. Today we are getting that mindful burn and really focusing on our deep core muscles (the traverse abdominis) that pull our abs in like a corset, creating a flat stomach. We have been focusing on creating this deep core connection throughout the entire program because it really is the foundation for all ab workouts.
We're also working the back and posture today, which is important because we need to strengthen every muscle in the core, and that includes the muscles in the back (multifidus and erector spinae) Not only is it great for our spine and mobility, but allows us to stand more confidently, stronger and with better alignment.
I had to mix in a bit of spicy back work with the weights because I couldn't help myself!! It's super fun, dynamic and effective. This is one of my fave days.
EQUIPMENT: Weights are optional, if not using them make sure to create the mind muscle connection and your own resistance.
FORM TIPS: use the same exhale belly button to spine, deep core connection tips we have been working one. Make sure your head is in alignment with the rest of your spine, one straight line from crown of head to tail bone, no twisting looking up or down. Glide your shoulders back and down to keep tension out of your neck.
